Actualización de la infección por virus del papiloma humano asociado a cáncer de cuello uterino con un enfoque en el diagnóstico y tratamiento

Resumen

Introducción: A nivel mundial, el carcinoma cervical continúa siendo una causa principal de mortalidad en mujeres adultas. Se ha identificado al virus del papiloma humano (VPH) como el principal elemento de riesgo para su evolución. Esta investigación busca ofrecer una actualización sobre las técnicas de diagnóstico y terapéutica de la infección asociada a este virus y su relación con el cáncer cervical.

Metodología: Para esta revisión bibliográfica, se accedió a plataformas de bases de datos digitales como Web of Science, Scopus y PubMed. Se priorizaron estudios publicados en inglés y español desde 2015 hasta la fecha.

Resultados: La investigación reveló la importancia crucial de la detección precoz en la terapéutica del cáncer asociado al VPH. Se destacaron técnicas diagnósticas como la citología cervical, pruebas específicas del VPH y la colposcopia. Los avances en la vacunación y el cribado regular se identificaron como elementos clave en la prevención de la enfermedad. Adicionalmente, se observaron progresos en tratamientos más específicos y menos invasivos.

Conclusiones: Se determina que tanto la infección como el cáncer cervical derivados pueden ser abordados con diversos métodos diagnósticos y terapéuticos. La prevención eficaz del cáncer cervical incluye la inmunización y la detección temprana a través de pruebas de cribado específicas.
