Factores psicosociales presentes en Adultos Mayores con Diabetes Mellitus Tipo 2

La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) es una enfermedad crónica que deteriora significativamente la calidad de vida y aumenta la incidencia de problemas como la depresión y la ansiedad. Este estudio se propone caracterizar los factores psicosociales en adultos mayores con DM2 y evaluar el impacto de las intervenciones profesionales. Mediante una revisión sistemática, se seleccionaron 22 estudios cuantitativos en inglés y español que incluían intervenciones psicosociales y medidas de afrontamiento válidas y confiables. Los resultados indican que un mayor apoyo social y estrategias de afrontamiento positivas se relacionan significativamente con una mejor salud mental y control glucémico. Además, las mujeres con DM2 tienden a experimentar más depresión y una menor calidad de vida en comparación con los hombres. Se concluye que las intervenciones psicosociales, como la educación sobre diabetes y los grupos de apoyo, son efectivas para mejorar la calidad de vida de estos pacientes.
